We have a busy week ahead of us! Today we talked about our Mandala project and received the guidelines for our pending creations. Remember that you need to submit your plan to me by tomorrow and that the final project as well as the blog entry are due on Monday, April 7. You can download today’s PowerPoint here for more information on the history of Mandala’s as well as answers to the warm-up.
We also discussed your upcoming SLCs. Many of you have already completed your reflections. If you have not yet done so, please download the reflection sheet and do one of two things: complete it by hand OR write a post to your blog much like you did for your Heritage Project in Humanities. The reflection sheet is linked below.
Enjoy your Mandala Project and I’m looking forward to seeing all of your reflections!

Today marks the end of quarter three! The children are finishing projects and tests while thinking ahead to their upcoming break from school. My hope for all of my families is to use this time to be just that – a family!
Michael Thompson visited our school this week and we are fortunate to offer you his talks with our parents via podcast. If you were unable to attend his sessions, please take the opportunity to head to our SAS Podcast site to download the rich and informative conversations. I was only able to attend a few sessions with Dr. Thompson but each session left me inspired and in awe about what a great and challenging experience it is being a parent.
Enjoy your families over this break and use the time to rest before the final 9 week push of your middle school career!
Dear Parents and Students,
Student conferences are fast approaching and it is time to sign up for conference times. Please download the attached letter for sign up times and return the letter to me as soon as possible. Alternatively, you may email me your conference time choices. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!
With Warm Regards,
Amanda DeCardy

Congratulations to En Ping!!!!! Part of the middle school pi day activities today included memorizing pi. Students were required to memorize the first 10 digits, but some students took the challenge to memorize more. Good job to all but a special pat on the back goes out to En Ping. Well done!
More information coming out about Pi Day – the kids wanted to see this one right away though!

Pi Day is fast approaching! Students are preparing to celebrate Albert Einstein’s birthday and Pi Day on Friday, March 14. All students should bring in a pi related food to share with their classmates. Most students have already signed up for what they are bringing – please don’t forget!!
We had our last quiz of the quarter today and will have our last test next week. Factoring is one of the most important units in Algebra 1 and students must be solid on the concepts. Please come to HOT on Thursday with me or Mrs. Saich on Thursday for extra practice. Students should also visit Edline to find the link to Online Practice Quizzes and Tests so that they can get immediate feedback on their skills.
Earlier this week I posted updated progress reports to Edline. Please log into Edline and take look to see if you have any missing assignments. If so, turn them in by Friday, March 21 as that is the last day of the quarter.
