About Mrs Hossack

I’m thrilled to be teaching my 8th year at SAS. I spent two years in the third grade and five years in first grade.  This year, I am beginning a new role as Elementary School Technology Resource Facilitator.  I am very excited about this new challenge!

It’s a pleasure to teach in an environment and community that strongly supports my beliefs about teaching and learning. As a professional, it’s exciting to be a part of such a dynamic team of teachers who are knowledgeable, hard working and enthusiastic!

My teaching experiences over the last 12 years include teaching grades 1-6 in two continents. I worked for nine years in New Zealand and four years in Shanghai. Prior to working in NZ, I got my Master’s Degree in the United States and before that I studied and grew up in my home country of Canada.

My husband Scott also works at SAS.  This year he is teaching P.E. and LOVING it!  We have a four year old son named Blake, who is absolutely wonderful.  He has just begun Pre K 4 at SAS and is very happy at school.

I look forward to sharing my new journey with you. It’s going to be an amazing year!

Hi Mrs. Hossack,

I am the LS Tech Integration person at SCIS in Pudong. Mr. Torris was saying good things about your site and he was right. You have been doing some great things with your students. I plan to check back often for inspiration. Happy New Year!

What a great site!

I\’m Helen Ramsay, I\’m an Elementary Education major at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. I had to research the use of blogs in the classroom and I came across your site which I referenced in my blog – http://ramsayhedm310spring09.blogspot.com

From your site, it appears you incorporate technology into your classroom very successfully. I would love to be able to email you to talk about how you do this and your thoughts on how it should be used in the education world. If this is okay, my email address is helenramsay1@gmail.com.

Our class site is http://edm310spring09.blogspot.com.

Dear Ms. Hossack (by Joao),
I’ve just visited about you and I liked the picture of Blake. I think I know where that picture is from: it’s from Halloween. And my mom emailed about The Prince of The Pound. Did you get that?
Bye bye Ms. Hossack and Blake

Dear Ms Hossack, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy and appreciate your site. We live in the USA and our beloved grandson, Christopher is in your class. It’s just wonderful to be able to witness (albeit long distance) his new learning experiences. Thank you for taking time out of your life to make timely and informative updates. I work at a small (450 students K-12) school in upstate New York and I have passed the link to your site to many of my co-workers. I have received a great deal of positive feedback. Christopher is very fortunate, indeed, to have you as a teacher.
Best regards, Susan Wallace

Congratulations Mrs Hossack – this is a fabulous site! Enjoyed catching up with your news. Be keen to do something similar in our school too.
Love to Blake and Scooter,
Brenda xxx

Hi! I am a first grade teacher in Bucyrus, Ohio. I stumbled across your Blog when I saw that you taught in Shanghai. I also noticed that you were doing an activity focusing on “small moments” with your children.
It is really a small world! I was watching my nephew, Ben Jarrett, do his homework/blogging over the holiday and he was commenting on “small moments” as well! My sister, Julie Lodge Jarrett, works for Ford. Her career has taken her family to Sahnghai. I can’t wait to Skype with them and see if by chance you are from the same school!
I love your ideas on your BLOG! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Mrs. Hossack!
My name is Mrs. Maley and I teach 6 and 7 year olds grade one and two in Regina Saskatchewan Canada! We have started an “All Around the World” inquiry unit where we are learning about people in other countries. I was wondering if you have 2 students who are computer savvy, fairly good writers, and committed students who would be willing to be pen pals/blogging buddies with 2 of my students? If they are willing, the expectation would be that they could tell my students about China, they would commit to a month (maybe 2) of blogging with each other, and they could help us out with some research! Let me know!
Mrs. Maley
