As teachers we are talking about what are some of the problems we face as bloggers, the things that limit our success to becoming more effective bloggers. I just learned that these are not problems that are unique to our room. This is something that many bloggers face. Mrs. Emmert’s class is having the same problems. Take a moment to read what she says and what ideas she is presenting. What do you think?

We are having a meeting with Mr. Utecht right now. We are discussing the idea of “What is the purpose of our blogs in class?”. That is the reason we are blogging in 5th grade. What is our purpose? Is the reason we blog so we can add pictures, poems and videos, reflecting on vacations? Or is there a more school focused goal. Is it for a specific purpose and assignments in mind.
Some things that we as a group, myself included, neglect is the idea of begin a producer of genuine information to the internet. Additionally something I need to work on is the idea of finding information and citing (or linking back) to the initial information that brought me there.
I think to some extent we as a class have come to a point where our focus is presentation and not information. What is the message that our blogs tell a reader. or more clearly, when someone comes to our blog what do they think our blog is about, the first impression. Do they think it is educational? Is it a fun blog?
