Students who will be in grades 7-10 next school year and who will opt out of purchasing a Mac through the school must have their personal Mac laptop certified before the end of the school year. In the middle school, we will begin this certification process after China Alive. As stated in the the March 20, 2009 ParentTalk article, your personal Mac must meet the following requirements:
Hardware requirements:
Mac Book with Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.0- GHZ (13 Inch), 120 GB Hard Drive, 2 GB of RAM.Software requirements:
Macintosh OS-X operating system, Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac (Home/Student Edition), Adobe CS3 Design Suite or CS4 Design Suite. These pieces of software specifically have to be purchased. According to our software licensing agreement, we cannot install school-owned software on non-school owned computers. The above software can be purchased through a school-approved vendor for a discounted price or via the internet, stores and outlets around the world.
When your personal computer meets the school requirements, please bring it to either Amanda DeCardy in the middle school or Simon May in the high school to complete the certification process.
Please see the March 20, 2009 ParentTalk issue for the complete article.
