Common Assessment 2 and Integrated Unit: China Short Story

Posted at 9:16 pm under Notes to Students

As you already know, this unit is a single project that will generate grades in both your history class and your English class.  The final product that you will turn in to me will be a piece of creative writing—a short story—based on an historical Chinese dynasty, era, event, or aspect of Chinese culture.   Your history teacher has already gotten you started on this project with your reading of selected parts of Wild Swans and its associated research.  In English you will have a pre-writing conference with me about the specific plan you have developed for your piece of writing.  About midway through writing your short story you will have a peer-edit session in your English class.  This is a common assessment and will be worth 15% of your first semester grade. The task, which is being handed out and explained in class on Monday the 9th and Tuesday the 10th, is also posted in the Assignments section of this blog.
