Happy Summer!!!

We wish each and everyone of you a safe and happy summer.  Know that as you rest and prepare for another year with us, we are working to make your experience as educational as possible.  Below are few of the changes we have planned for this coming year.

This past year we spent some time reviewing our program and we are pleased to announce some changes that we believe will enhance the experiences gained.  We will continue with our students reporting to Advisory first thing in the mornigng; however, we have shorten the block by 5 minutes so that we can add those minutes to our afternoon advisory and electives.  Also, our Core Blocks in grade 7 and 8 will rotate between 4 classes.  Each student will be assigned a Humanities teacher that they will see everyday of the week for a full period.  Math and Science will continue to rotate on an A/B schedule.   This will allow your child's teacher to get to know their writing and learning needs.  Each Humanities teacher is  assigned 36 students for their studies in Social Studies and Language Arts.

Our Core Blocks of Humanities, Math, and Science will be further supported through collaboration with a year long Art program as well as Health throughout the year.  This change, we believe, will allow teachers to plan interdisciplinary units with encore teachers.  Additionally, we have expanded our elective choices to over 65.  These electives will challenge students in areas of there choice such as Math, Science, and Sport.

Sincerely,

Ronald A. Roukema, Ed. D
