We are pleased to announce that the Grade 8 students will opening the Reinvention Art Show this Thursday in the Orange Couch Room. Parents are invited to come view paintings created by students anytime between January 8 and January 22. Students chose a pre-20th century painting where they reinvented the painting and made the painting relevant to our current time period.
"The Re-invention Project pushed us to re-invent a famous art work produced before the year 1900. The Re-invention project was good for our brains because it forced us to be innovative in developing a concept for a painting. There are many ways to re-invent, but you have the choice what to revent and how to reinvent it." Michael K.
More information can be found on the Middle School Webpage. A special thanks to Sepi Johnson, Jason Maddock, and Kristi Thornbury for organizing such a meaningful project for our students!

Congratulations to all of our 8th grade students for a fantastic NGO Conference today!
We were impressed with the amount of learning that took place throughout the entire project If you would like to learn more about the NGOs that students created, please visit the 8th Grade Science wiki at http://env-ngo08.wikispaces.com. Students created informative wiki pages and several used iMovie to enhance their presentations during the conference today.
Take a peek for an overview of the day!

I was gone to the Apple Distinguished Educator's Institute last week and was curious about how the MS Podcast would progress without me there pushing the students along. There is nothing more rewarding to a teacher than having their students take the reins, take control and complete complex tasks on their own... without my input... without me nagging them to "get the job done". I think I may be teaching myself out of job!
Congratulations to Dylan and Josh for a job well done! They interviewed Dr. Rosen, set up the interview with Mr. Cole, made the podcasting equipment work, and successfully edited their first solo podcast.
Enjoy...

This has been cross-posted on our Counselor's Blog! Please contact Laura Cowan and Jason Caruana for more information!

Hi Parents,
One of the topics we'll be working with on December 3 at our Counselor's Coffee will be internet and computer awareness and safety. As that date draws ever nearer, I'm going to post a couple of items here on our blog for your reference and information, and to help generate discussion of these topics.
The link below is to a Yahoo! Games article talking about computer games to be aware of and the need for parents to monitor the labels on games. In an environment where pirated games are readily available, educating yourself about these games is even more critically important.
Check back here for more information in the coming days.
