Fitness is a major component of the Middle School PHE curriculum. So much so, that it is the only unit that is tested four times throughout the year. Students are tested in the following areas:
Agility: 30 ft. Shuttle Run
Muscular Strength: Push Ups, Sit Ups and Vertical Jump
Flexibility: Sit & Reach
Explosive Power: 10 meter Dash

Above are the eight main fitness tests. Other fitness tests include: standing long jump and bent-arm hang. The fitness tests have been standardized for all students here in the middle school. The rubrics are a combination of American and Canadian fitness standards.

Welcome to our new bicycling unit! We are still awaiting the arrival of our helmets. In the meantime we would like our students to take the time to view the following sites for review some of the hand signals and other safety tips that are involved in biking. The second site is a story about a guy who had biked around the world. Imagine doing that!
