Fitness Testing

Posted by kpoulin on 23rd September 2008

Fitness is a major component of the Middle School PHE curriculum. So much so, that it is the only unit that is tested four times throughout the year. Students are tested in the following areas:
Cardiovascular Endurance: Beep Test  (video of Beep test - level 5 ) and Mile Run
Agility: 30 ft. Shuttle Run
Muscular Strength: Push Ups, Sit Ups and Vertical Jump
Flexibility: Sit & Reach
Explosive Power: 10 meter Dash

 Sit and Reach

Mile Run

 Sit-Ups

10 m Dash

Above are the eight main fitness tests. Other fitness tests include: standing long jump and bent-arm hang. The fitness tests have been standardized for all students here in the middle school. The rubrics are a combination of American and Canadian fitness standards.
