Students in the lower elementary school ran a short course within the Shanghai Links Golf Course, while students in the upper elementary students ran about 3/4 of a mile around the perimeter of the campus. The Middle School students ran a two mile course within the the golf course.

The top five boys and girls in grades four through eight received certificates for their efforts, while the top twenty scored points for their school spirit houses.  See the results for the Top 5 here.

The first action point listed in pursuit of the SAS vision for 2012 is to maximize the benefits of the cultural and linguistic learning experiences in China. The student expectations further require that students exhibit an understanding and appreciation of Chinese language and culture. In an effort to embrace our schools philosophy, Kung Fu continues for the second year in the middle school Physical Education department in Pudong.

Here’s your review for our kung fu test! Practice regularly. We test at our next meeting. Retest and auditions for the Chinese New Year performance will be held in December so get ready and stay ready. Good luck!

 Above are the eight main fitness tests. Other fitness tests include: standing long jump and bent-arm hang. The fitness tests have been standardized for all students here in the middle school. The rubrics are a combination of American and Canadian fitness standards.

Skills Assessed: Basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting are all assessed in this unit. Students are also assessed on team play, defense and sportsmanship.
