CCS Family Care (interkom) presents:

No Apologies, the Truth about Life, Love and Sex.

On May 15^th and 16^th, certified trainers will be presenting a one-and-a-half day, character-based video curriculum that specifically teaches the facts about high risk sexual behavior and helps adolescents identify the problems and consequences associated with it. The program’s primary goal is to communicate that sex saved for marriage is the safest and healthiest choice. It also teaches teens refusal skills to help withstand pressure from peers to engage in sexual activity, drug and alcohol consumption, and other high-risk behaviors.

There will be two separate seminars run simultaneously—one for middle school students grades 6-8 (years 7-9) and one for high school students grades 9-12 (years 10-13). The cost for this program is 200 RMB per person and includes dinner Friday May 15^th, lunch Saturday May 16^th, snacks throughout the two days and all materials. Have to say…I attended the “Super Saturday” performance of “Superman” and was BLOWN away by the talent that we have in our Middle School!!  Congrats to ALL for a wonderful show!  We then enjoyed a Picnic and Track & Field events hosted by Middle School PTSA & Our PE Department ~ it was a great day with some fun competition!  Thanks to all that did even the smallest part!
With that said we still have JUST 7 weeks of school left!!  Amazing how fast time goes!!

Heading into the HOME Stretch…Lot’s of things happening for both this school year and next!!  We have both the SAS Board of Director’s Election coming to a close and the Pudong PTSA Exco Board Slate coming to a vote!  Many hands make light work, when everyone takes a small piece of the load we can accomplish so much more for our students and the school!!  Consider being involved!?!

Valid Voting ~ Please know that we have many wonderful candidates that have submitted their names for consideration for the SAS Board of Director’s, PLEASE make your vote count for them by making your VOTE VALID!!

Also in the voting package is some house cleaning work, the vote to expand the quorum.  Last Fall SAS voted to expand the Board from 7 to 9, now we will just be amending the articles to state for the Board to do business they will need 7 of the 9 members to conduct work!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful time on campus last week as we came to campus for our Parent Conference’s, I hope that you were able stop by our NEW Logo Store Location, we had a quick ribbon cutting to celebrate the work that had done to get us to this point and we were off and running!  We also supported the school as Dr. Larkin PLUNGED a shovel into the sod to break ground on our newest facility the Pudong Aquatic Center!!  We also celebrated our first ” SAS Gala: An Evening for the Endowment which was a beautiful evening in a stunning location.  It’s been busy!

Puxi and Pudong campus parents together . . .A special schoolwide event for the SAS community on April 11, 2009, will celebrate our school’s past and, as important, its future. And this special event will take place at a special venue: YongFoo Elite, a graceful villa in the counsular area of the French Concession.

Their futures filled their thoughts as completely as their music filled the dance floor during the SAS graduation dance in May, 1949. Nearly 60 years later, on April 11, 2009, SAS parents will honor our school’s past and celebrate its future on the grounds of a graceful Shanghai villa in the French Concession, YongFoo Elite.

The idea: It’s a first for SAS. And it’s worth celebrating. This year we have established an endowment fund that will, as it grows, assure our school’s vitality, now and well into the future.
