6th Grade News for Week of Jan. 5 and Beyond…

Happy new year and welcome back! We hope the holidays were spent enjoying friends and family. We are more than ready to begin the new year with your son or daughter full of excitement and energy. The end of the second quarter (and first semester) will be this Friday, January 9. Please talk with your child to make sure they are on track with any projects, assignments and tests. Grades will be posted next week on Edline.

  • CISSA floor hockey starts this week!

SAS MS is celebrating the holiday season with a series of concerts performed by the MS students in the band, choir and orchestra. Get all the information for times and dates by clicking here. We would appreciate your support in attending these student performances.

6th Grade News for Week of Dec. 8 and Beyond…

Seasons Greetings! A quick reminder to return the goal monitoring sheet that was sent out last week after you review current progress with your child. Many holiday concerts are taking place at SAS over the next two weeks for our band, choir and orchestra students. Get all the information for times and dates by clicking here. We would appreciate your support in attending these student performances. Also - the new cabinets for musical instruments are here! They are located in the 6th grade hallway outside of Mrs. Blair’s room. Students will be assigned their own personal storage space this week.

6th Grade News for Week of Dec. 1 and Beyond…

Parents - This week you and your child will formally review the progress of the Collaborative Academic Goals you created with them at the Student-Led Conferences, including your part in helping them achieve this goal. Your child will present you with a goal-monitoring sheet to help facilitate both of you in this mid-term review process. You can complete it together and then have your son or daughter return it to their advisor by the end of the wenall-advisory.jpgek.  Remember to keep a fresh copy in your home where you and your child can easily see and refer to it on a daily basis.

6th Grade News for Week of Nov. 24 and Beyond…

Greetings Parents. Thank you for supporting your child in reaching their collaborative academic goals. We will be continuing to monitor their progress as we make out way through the second quarter, including a review sheet for you and your child that we will send home after progress reports come out this week!

Also - ask your child about the SAS charity event “Save it or Shave it.” The men of 6th grade (and all of SAS!) continue to grow their MOustaches in support of Men’s health issues for the month of MO-vember. Students can choose to donate to this cause by contributing to “Save It” or “Shave it” donation jars. All funds go to local charities. You can also donate to the official movember.com site here - http://ex.movember.com/mospace/1370956 

This Week in 6th grade….

  • 2nd Quarter Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be sent to Edlinp1130150-copy.jpge on Friday November 28th for all students who are receiving less than 70 per cent in a subject or who whose current grade has changed significantly since first quarter report cards.
  • Half day on friday - Nov 28. Students wil have core classes only, then home at 11:30 am
  • Students in Mr. Bister’s and Mr. Olivas’ classes have started their new unit - Electricity and Magnetism - lot’s of experiments this week!

Please remember to bring in the collaborative goal sheet you filled out with your parents at the Student Involved Conferences. Parents and students, please keep these goals in mind as we make our way to through the next quarter. We recommend you keep a copy posted in your home where you and your child can talk about and refer to them often.

Parents and students - We look forward to meeting you at your Student Involved Conference held at the SAS this coming Thursday and Friday. Please let us know if there are any scheduling problems so that we can make accomodate you to meet your needs. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am on both days. See you soon!

Welcome to the Second quarter! New electives will also begin this week. H.O.T. will remain in effect throughout the year, with opportunities for students to receive extra help on their projects and assignments afterschool on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:20 pm.
