Reflection on Global Issues Unit

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Review our units Enduring Understandings

·         Everything we do has an impact on ourselves and our environment

·         Systems within an environment are interdependent

·         Systems can create inequities

·         The past and present affect our future

·         Human needs depend on available resources

Now think about your experiences both preparing for and during the GIN conference.  Choose two enduring understandings and write a reflection for each on the following:

  1.  How has your own insight and knowledge of the enduring understanding increased.
  2. An example of something that you learned from watching the other presentations that relates to the enduring understanding.

Now open the SLC reflection and fill it out.  Make sure to tag this as SLC and put it into your SLC and Humanities categories.  You need to make sure to create a new category labeled:  SLC Spring 09

Humanities Work Sample Reflection

Monday, October 27th, 2008

For Humanities you need to reflect on a piece of work that you completed first quarter.  This piece of work should not be your highest grade.  Instead it should be a work sample of that could be improved upon  You should explain how you plan to do this in your reflections.   Make sure to have a hard copy of the work sample you have chosen.  Use the template below and post your reflection on your blog by Wednesday!

Preparing for SLCs

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

SLCs are coming up!  Wait, what are SLCs?

Student Led Conferences are:

  • What do you know about them?
  • What questions do you have?
  • What are the EAGLES?  What do they stand for?  How are they connected to SLCs?

What do I have to do?

  • Students will reflect on their goals on the blogs between now and conference time.
  • Students will choose one item from each core class to include in their conference.  The piece of work does not have to be digital this time, but the reflection for the piece of work should occur on the blog.

For Humanities you need to reflect on a piece of work that you completed first quarter.  This piece of work should not be your highest grade.  Instead it should be a works sample of that could be improved upon  You should explain how you plan to do this in your reflections.  Make sure to have a hard copy of the work sample you have chosen.  Use the template below and post your reflection on your blog by Thursday!
