Standard C1: (2009-10)

Adheres to professional ethical standards

Benchmarks that a teacher has successfully met this standard:

1. Honors human dignity

2. Models and encourages respect for intellectual and cultural values

3. Models and encourages integrity, responsibility and moral action

4. Models and encourages emotional wellness, care, compassion and commitment to the learning community

5. Develops relationships with students, colleagues and parents that are based on trust, empathy, fairness and honesty

6. Practices professional trust, confidentiality and reliability

  • This standard is one that is difficult to show with words and pictures, rather it is something you see and feel when you walk into my class. I adhere to professional ethical standards through a variety of ways. I sing songs in my class about respect, and recycling. We have a recycle paper box in our room to be globally aware. We read books such as For Every Child a Better World. I email parents as needed with compassion and respect. I respect the students in my class and expect them to treat me and their peers with respect also.

Benchmarks that a teacher has successfully met this standard:

1.   Communicates in a timely manner with students, colleagues, and parents.

  • Students: verbal, positive reinforcement, assessment results communicated,
  • Parents: report cards, emails, parent meetings, phone calls, conferences, blog, Newsletters, Math Family letters, Parent Fall Survey, Welcome letter,
  • Colleagues: regular grade level meetings,  faculty meetings, emails,

1.   Cultivates a professional working relationship with colleagues.

  • Our team works together every week to plan teaching, and assessments
  • Jobs are shared between each team member
  • Emails from teacher-teacher/counselor/A.S.

2.   Establishes and maintains relationships with parents and students to support student growth and development.

  • Meetings with room parents
  • Work with buddy class to develop relationships within class levels

3.   Demonstrates dedication in their care and commitment to students.

4.   Support SAS vision, mission, core values, and EAGLES.

  • Planning (Atlas units) show vision and EAGLES

5.   Participates in, and supports, team decision making and team-building.

  • Team meetings (minutes show a collaborative team working together, and members taking on different roles within the team)

Standard C4: (2008-09)

Demonstrates service to the learning community

Benchmarks that a teacher has successfully met this standard:

1.   Participates in community events, student activities and/or school improvement initiatives.

  • Organize community events: used clothing drive for local charities, used toy drive for local school children.
  • Field trip to local school to encourage community relationships

2.   Demonstrates involvement in student life and co-curricular activities.

  • Coach Sports Teams
  • Involvement in After School Activities
  • Attend school community picnic and international fair

Standard C5:(2009-10)

Commits to ongoing professional learning

Benchmarks that a teacher has successfully met this standard:

1.   Engages in self evaluation

  • I am constantly self evaluating therefor my teaching and assessment is constantly growing and changing

2.   Seeks opportunities for professional growth to support SAS school improvement initiatives

  • Taking on Literacy leadership position for 2010-11 school year
  • Professional Portfolio
  • Writer’sWorkshop Partnerships involving ongoing professional conversations
  • Critical Friends Training (February 2010)
  • Teachers Teaching Teachers’-lead class in Word note book
  • Participate in PD days at school
  • Commit to PD learning on meeting Wednesdays
